February / March News

The 2008 season is fast approaching and this is the first in a series of news postings to keep members up to date this season.
The aim is to keep people informed of all upcoming racing and social events in 2008, so get out your calendar and note the dates of your favorites!

A.G.M.
The AGM took place on 7/02/08 where all present acknowledged a good season for 2007 and elected the new committee to take things forward in 2008.

  • Richie Fearon is once again working on a packed sailing program which kicks off in April.
  • Following a detailed presentation form the Property Sub-Committee it was agreed that extensive (and much needed) renovation work will start on the club house in September.

Fees
Fintan Connolly (treasurer) will be sending out renewal notices imminently so please return ASAP! The sailing secretary will be provided with an up to date list of all unpaid members this year

- boats racing with unpaid crew members will nullify their result.
Results cannot be subsequently validated on payment of fees.

Opening Day Race
The Opening Day race takes place Saturday 19th April 2008 at 1630

Opening Day Lunch (Revised Date)
Opening Day Lunch has been organized for Sunday 27th April 2008 (NB: not the same weekend!). This is always a well supported event and we hope as many members as possible can come to celebrate the end of the long winter!! More details to follow.

Sailing Program
A copy of the 2008 sailing program is now available online, so take time to consider the major events for this season (including Tory, Melmore, Railway Tavern/Lifeboat regatta and of course the ‘Swilly Worlds’ ) when planning any cruising trips (don’t want to miss the craic!)

We will have a regular OD again this year - ‘Swilly Time’ will not apply in 2008!!

The daily racing results will be displayed in the clubhouse at the end of each race.

Dinghy Sailing Programme
Paul Mc Sorley has compiled a dinghy racing programme for this season, also soon to be available online. Anyone interested in dinghy racing and/or volunteering with rescue boat etc please contact Paul.

Website Update!!

With the 2008 season fast approaching, the website is again undergoing some changes. It is hoped that this year the website can become more like an on-line version of the club handbook, with a limited amount of interactivity; to keep members up-to-date with racing and social events, as well as news of what far-flung-club-members are up to.
